Wang Te-Yu
Born in Hsin Chu, 1970. Since graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts, Wang Te-Yu has devoted herself to artistic creation and received MFA degree from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2005. She has participated in group exhibitions from Taiwan, Japan to France, and held numerous solo exhibitions including the favorable Adrift: Wang Te-Yu Solo Exhibition in MOMA Taipei, 2003. Wang is characterized by her use of light and simple material to create a unique interactive experience between audience and the work itself. Without figurative titles and presupposed perspectives, her works thus emphasize on the subjective experiences of the audience. Her work “No. 54”, shown at the exhibition Lots o'LOTTO: Seen and Unseen in Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2005, for example, invites the audience to enter a huge pneumatic curtain so as to enjoy an aloof experience in another space. Wang has been selected for the Grand Prix, Paris, 1995, and the ARCUS Project: Artist-in-Residence, Japan, 2000.
