法籍藝術家法賓•樂韓(Fabien Lerat)的創作向來充滿人文詩意，他擅長運用布料作為媒材，並介入‘人的行動’元素，讓作品具備高度互動性。《八方Revolution of an Azimuth》同樣運用布材，用七種不同顏色的布，包覆摩天輪，讓觀眾坐在裡面，用聽覺感受外面世界的聲音。同時，七種顏色隱涉法國大文豪大仲馬(Alexandre Dumas)在《七重天 Seven Skies》一文裡所描述的人一生之中七種無上快樂的愛，坐在漂浮高處的摩天輪，猶如登上快樂的七重天。

《八方》創作計畫包含了兩種造形的裝置：圓形和正方形。圓形是摩天輪，正方形的空間規劃為“分享室”，觀眾可以在這個私密的空間，用書寫、聆聽、觀看分享屬於這個場域的聲音、顏色。

原文標題 ”Revolution of an Azimuth” 意即「方位角的革命」。方位角（azimuth）指的是某定點與其他物體間的水平弧度夾角，這個字可以追溯至阿拉伯語中的 ”al-sumut”，意即道路。法文中更有「在所有方位角中」的諺語，說明「四面八方」的概念。法賓•樂韓的創作企圖打破關於方位與距離的概念，在現實世界中造景，造一個沒有疆界的樂園。

Revolution of an Azimuth

The creations of French artist Fabien Lerat are filled with human feeling and poetic import. He excels at using the medium of cloth and introducing “human motion” as an element, achieving a high degree of interactivity in his works. In “Revolution of an Azimuth” Lerat will cover the gondolas of the amusement park’s Ferris wheel with seven different colors of cloth, so that when inside, visitors will use their hearing to sense the sounds of the outside world. These seven colors are also a reference to the seven forms of supremely happy love in life, described by French writer Alexandre Dumas in his essay “Seven Skies.” Floating high in the Ferris wheel is like ascending seven skies of happiness.

The plan for “Revolution of an Azimuth” includes the installation of two shapes – a circle and a rectangle. The circle is the Ferris wheel, while the rectangle is a private space where visitors can write, listen or watch, sharing the sounds and colors of this place.

An azimuth is an arc of the horizon, measured between a fixed point and the vertical circle passing through the center of an object. This term can be traced back to the Arabic word al-sumut, meaning “the way.” The French have the saying, Dans tous les azimuts, tous azimuts: “In all directions at the same time.” Fabien Lerat’s work is an attempt to break through preconceived notions of direction and distance, and create in the real world a paradise without borders.
